300 — Prospective Marriage Visa

The Prospective Marriage visa (subclass 300) lets a foreign national enter Australia to marry an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or qualifying New Zealand citizen, then apply for permanent residence. The couple must have met in person as adults and genuinely intend to marry within the visa validity period.

The visa is granted for 9 to 15 months from the date of grant and includes full work and study rights. It is not renewable, but once married, holders can apply for a Partner visa (subclass 820/801) — a direct pathway to permanent residence. The base application charge is AUD 9,365.
