Overview

Self-sponsored residence permit for foreign investors with a registered business, available in 2, 5, or 10-year durations without employer sponsorship.

The Self-Sponsorship Residence Permit for Investors is designed for foreign entrepreneurs who wish to establish and manage their own business ventures within the Kingdom of Bahrain without the need for a local employer or sponsor. This visa category provides business owners with the autonomy to reside in the country while overseeing their commercial interests. It is particularly suited for individuals who have invested significant capital into a local enterprise and intend to maintain an active role in its operations, ensuring that the business remains compliant with national regulations, including GOSI and commercial registration requirements.

This permit is available for durations of two, five, or ten years, offering long-term stability for investors and their families. By removing the dependency on a traditional employer-sponsored work permit, it grants investors greater flexibility to manage their professional affairs and travel. Applicants must demonstrate financial self-sufficiency and maintain an active, operational business to qualify for renewal. This pathway is a cornerstone of Bahrain's efforts to attract foreign direct investment and foster a dynamic, entrepreneur-led economy, providing a clear legal framework for those committed to the Kingdom's commercial growth.
