BEATS — Extended Access Travel Stay (BEATS)

The Bahamas Extended Access Travel Stay (BEATS) program is a specialized residency initiative designed for remote professionals and students who wish to live and work or study from The Bahamas for up to one year. Introduced to accommodate the global shift toward virtual work environments, this program allows participants to reside in the country while maintaining their existing employment or enrollment at an accredited institution abroad. It offers a unique opportunity to experience the Bahamian lifestyle across its 16 diverse island destinations without the need for a traditional local work permit, provided the applicant does not seek gainful employment within the local Bahamian economy.

To qualify for this program, applicants must submit an online application to the Bahamas Immigration Department, which typically processes requests within five days. The program requires a fee of USD 1,025 for professionals and USD 525 for students. Essential documentation includes a valid passport, proof of medical insurance, and evidence of current employment or enrollment. Professionals must provide a job letter or proof of self-employment, while students must demonstrate sufficient financial means to cover their living expenses and return travel. Once approved, participants receive a digital confirmation to facilitate their entry into the country.
