The PC-1 is a travel facilitation counterfoil issued to a foreign national from a visa-required country who already holds a valid physical Temporary Resident Permit (TRP) that authorizes re-entry to Canada.
The PC-1 is a travel facilitation counterfoil issued by Canada to foreign nationals from visa-required countries who already hold a valid physical Temporary Resident Permit (TRP) authorizing re-entry. It does not grant new status — it confirms the existing authorization so the holder can board transport to Canada.
Stay duration matches the underlying TRP expiry and there is no processing fee. The application uses form IMM 5257 via the IRCC Secure Account. The TRP must explicitly state it authorizes re-entry under IRPR regulation 63(b); if it does not, departure from Canada will invalidate the permit.
This visa is ideal for visa-required nationals outside Canada who hold a physical TRP with explicit re-entry authorization and need a counterfoil to board their return flight.
