RX-1 — Attendance at a PR Hearing Travel Document

The RX-1 is a Canadian PRTD counterfoil issued to permanent residents abroad who have received a negative residency determination but were physically present in Canada at least once in the preceding 365 days. It allows a single return to Canada to attend an IAD appeal hearing.

The travel document costs CAD $50 (form IMM 5444) and grants a single entry valid for 6 months. Holders retain full PR rights and work authorization while the appeal is pending. The IAD appeal must be filed within 60 days of the negative decision; hearing scheduling typically takes 12–24 months.
