This visa is intended for individuals moving to the country for work, extended professional assignments, or other long-term commitments. It acts as the necessary precursor to applying for a formal residence permit (Titre de Séjour) upon arrival. Because it facilitates an extended presence, the application process is more rigorous than that of a short-stay visa, often requiring detailed documentation to verify the applicant's intent and sponsorship within the country.

To apply for a long-stay visa, individuals must hold a passport valid for at least six months beyond their intended stay and submit fully completed and signed visa application forms. Requirements typically include proof of the purpose of the stay, such as a formal employment contract or a letter of sponsorship from a registered organization in the Central African Republic. Applicants may also be required to provide medical certificates, police clearance records, and proof of sufficient financial resources. The consular fee for a long-stay visa is generally set at $300.
