The Volunteer Residence Permit allows non-EU/EEA citizens aged 18–30 to perform unpaid, voluntary work for a qualifying non-profit organization in Denmark. Applicants must have a formal agreement with a non-profit engaged in social or humanitarian activities.
The permit lasts up to 18 months and is non-renewable. Processing takes 90 days; there is no application fee. Work authorization is limited to the agreed volunteer role only. Family members cannot accompany the applicant, and there is no pathway to permanent residency.
This visa is ideal for young professionals or recent graduates from any country seeking a meaningful humanitarian or social work experience in Denmark without job-market pressures.
