Citizenship by Marriage

Citizenship by marriage is a pathway available to foreign nationals who have entered into a legal marriage with a citizen of the Commonwealth of Dominica. Unlike the investment-based programs, this route is based on familial ties and requires the applicant to demonstrate that their marriage is genuine and has been established for a specific duration, usually three years. This process is managed by the Ministry of National Security, Labour and Immigration and involves a thorough review of the applicant's background and the validity of their marital status.

This pathway is intended for individuals who have integrated into Dominican society through their spouse. Applicants must be of good character and meet health and security standards, including providing police records and medical certifications. Once the application is approved by the Minister, the applicant is required to take an oath of allegiance at the Registry and pay the necessary registration fees to finalize their status as a Dominican citizen. This route provides a permanent legal bond with the country and grants the same rights and responsibilities as those held by citizens by birth or naturalization.
