The Eritrea Transit Visa is a short-duration entry permit intended for travelers who need to pass through Eritrea while en route to a final destination in another country. This visa is specifically designed for individuals whose travel itinerary requires a stopover in Eritrea, with the permitted stay typically limited to a maximum of 72 hours. It is an essential travel document for those whose flight paths or travel plans necessitate entering the country temporarily before continuing their journey, ensuring that transit passengers remain in compliance with Eritrean immigration laws during their brief stay.

To qualify for this transit visa, applicants must provide concrete evidence of their ongoing travel, which includes a confirmed onward ticket to their final destination. If the final destination requires a visa, the applicant must also provide proof that they have already obtained or been granted that entry authorization. The fee for the transit visa is USD 53. As with other Eritrean visa types, the applicant must submit a completed and signed application form (B62.3) and a passport valid for at least six months beyond the date of entry. Processing times can vary, so travelers are advised to apply well in advance of their scheduled travel dates.
