Sponsor must be a Finnish citizen or have been granted refugee status, subsidiary protection status, or a residence permit based on temporary protection.

Must be fully dependent on the sponsor and have previously led a close family life with the sponsor.

Denying the permit must be deemed unreasonable under the specific circumstances.

If the sponsor has been granted international or temporary protection, the sponsor must have lived in Finland with a residence permit for at least 2 years before the relative can apply (as of 16 June 2025; derogation possible for exceptionally serious grounds or best interest of the child).
