ETA-IL — Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA-IL)

The Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA-IL) is a mandatory digital pre-screening requirement introduced by the Israeli government for nationals of visa-exempt countries. Launched to enhance border security and streamline the entry process, this system requires qualifying travelers to submit an online application before beginning their journey to Israel. The authorization is designed for short-term visits, including tourism, business meetings, and short-term study, and it must be obtained at least 72 hours prior to departure. It is important to note that an approved ETA-IL does not guarantee entry, as final permission is determined by border control officers upon arrival.

The ETA-IL is valid for multiple entries over a period of up to two years from the date of approval, or until the traveler's passport expires, whichever occurs first. During each visit, travelers are generally permitted to stay in Israel for up to 90 days. The application process involves a fee of 25 ILS and requires applicants to provide personal details and travel information. Israeli citizens and holders of an Israeli identity number are exempt from this requirement. By digitizing the screening process, the ETA-IL helps reduce processing times at border crossings while maintaining high security standards for all visitors entering the country.
