The Religious Studies Visa is a specialized category for foreign nationals traveling to Lebanon for the purpose of religious education, missionary work, or volunteering within recognized religious institutions. Unlike standard tourist visas, this category requires a formal invitation and sponsorship from a host institution in Lebanon, which must be accredited by the government. The host institution plays a critical role, as they are responsible for securing the necessary prior authorizations from the General Directorate of General Security before the applicant can enter the country.

This visa is intended for individuals dedicated to theological studies or religious service. A unique aspect of this visa is the 'commitment of responsibility' that applicants must sign, which mandates adherence to local laws and prohibits any activity involving criticism of the state or other countries.
