Type D — Long-Stay Study Visa (Type D - Study)

The Long-Stay Study Visa (Type D) is established under the Law on Foreigners of the Republic of North Macedonia. It is designed to facilitate the legal entry and extended stay of international students who have been accepted into accredited higher education institutions within the country. This visa fills the regulatory gap for students whose academic programs exceed the 90-day limit permitted by short-stay (Type C) visas, providing a formal pathway for those pursuing full-time degrees or specialized academic courses.

This visa is intended for international students who have secured formal admission to a recognized North Macedonian university or college. It is distinct because it is specifically tied to the student's enrollment status and requires proof of financial stability and adequate health insurance. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. While it grants the right to reside in the country for the duration of the studies, it does not automatically authorize full-time employment, ensuring the holder's primary focus remains on their academic objectives.
