Type D — Volunteering Visa (Type D - Volunteering)

The Volunteering Visa (Type D) is established under the Law on Foreigners to support international humanitarian and social engagement within North Macedonia. It provides a legal mechanism for foreign nationals to participate in officially recognized volunteering programs, filling the gap for non-profit and community-based work that does not fall under traditional employment or study categories. This visa acknowledges the value of international volunteerism while ensuring that such activities are conducted legally and transparently.

This visa is for individuals who have been accepted into a recognized, non-profit volunteer program, such as those organized by NGOs, charities, or international aid agencies. It is distinctive because it is strictly for non-paid service; holders are not permitted to engage in regular employment. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have valid health insurance, and demonstrate sufficient financial resources to support themselves during their stay. It is ideal for those dedicated to social impact, community development, or humanitarian aid in North Macedonia.
