Premium Visa

The Mauritius Premium Visa is a free, one-year renewable long-stay permit launched in 2020 for foreign nationals who want to live in Mauritius while working remotely, retiring, or staying as a long-term tourist. It is multi-entry and explicitly bars holders from joining the local labour market, so income must come from outside Mauritius.

Applicants must show income of at least USD 1,500/month (USD 18,000/year) plus USD 500 per dependent child, three months of bank statements, travel and health insurance, accommodation proof, and a return ticket. Application is fully online via the EDB portal with no fee. Foreign income not remitted to Mauritius is not taxed locally.

This visa is ideal for digital nomads, remote employees, retirees, and families seeking a 6-to-12-month base in a tropical, English- and French-speaking jurisdiction with favourable tax treatment of foreign income.
