The Mauritius Premium Visa is a free, one-year renewable long-stay permit launched in 2020 for foreign nationals who want to live in Mauritius while working remotely, retiring, or staying as a long-term tourist. It is multi-entry and explicitly bars holders from joining the local labour market, so income must come from outside Mauritius.

Applicants must show income of at least USD 1,500/month (USD 18,000/year) plus USD 500 per dependent child, three months of bank statements, travel and health insurance, accommodation proof, and a return ticket. Application is fully online via the EDB portal with no fee. Foreign income not remitted to Mauritius is not taxed locally.

PUBLISHED REQUIREMENTS

Must intend to stay in Mauritius for a period exceeding 180 days up to one year (renewable).

Must have the main place of business and/or source of income and profits outside of Mauritius.

Must not enter the Mauritian labour market.

Must provide proof of long-stay plans and accommodation.

Must possess adequate travel and health insurance for the duration of the stay.

Must meet minimum income requirements: USD 1,500 per month for the primary applicant and USD 500 per month for each dependent child.
