The SMART Visa (Talent) is Thailand's 4-year work visa for skilled professionals in innovation-driven sectors under the Board of Investment's "Thailand 4.0" initiative. Applicants need a bachelor's degree, five years' professional experience, and earn at least 100,000 THB monthly (50,000 for retired experts). The visa eliminates the work permit requirement for BOI-endorsed company employees.
Stays extend up to four years with annual reporting instead of 90-day cycles. Spouses and children can work or study without additional permits. Processing takes 30–44 calendar days; annual visa fee is 10,000 THB. No PR conversion pathway is available.
This visa is ideal for international professionals with advanced qualifications joining BOI-backed Thai companies in targeted innovation sectors.
