D.1.4 — Residence for Medical Treatment

Residence for Medical Treatment (official code D.1.4) is one of Andorra's "residència sense treball" (residence without work) categories, for individuals admitted to a private geriatric center or a private medical and therapeutic care facility within the Principality. It sits alongside Andorra's other passive-residence categories for people who wish to reside in the country without engaging in employment or professional activity.

Applicants must provide a formal document of admission to the geriatric or medical/therapeutic center, register with the local comú (parish), and complete the standard immigration medical examination. They must also hold valid insurance covering illness, disability, and old age — those over 60 need only illness coverage — and demonstrate sufficient economic means to support their stay for the full duration of the residency. The permit does not grant the right to work in Andorra and remains tied to the continued validity of the care arrangement.
