Overview

Permanent visa for holders of regional provisional visas (491/494) meeting income and residence requirements.

The Subclass 191 is an Australian permanent visa for holders of regional provisional visas (491 or 494) who have spent at least 3 years living and working in a designated regional area. It is not open to direct applicants — qualification requires meeting the conditions of the preceding provisional visa.

Applicants must provide ATO Notices of Assessment for 3 of the 5 years of their provisional visa, demonstrating regional employment income. The visa grants permanent residence with full work rights, Medicare access, and dependent inclusion. Spouses can work without restriction. The base charge is AUD 505.

This visa is ideal for 491 or 494 holders who have completed 3 years of genuine regional residence and employment and are ready to convert their temporary status to permanent.
