Entrepreneur Work Permit

The Entrepreneur Work Permit is a specialized variant of the long-term work permit, specifically tailored for foreign nationals who wish to establish and operate their own business within Barbados. Unlike standard work permits that require an external employer, this permit recognizes the applicant as the business owner or principal investor. It is designed to attract foreign direct investment and encourage the growth of local industries, such as International Business Companies (IBCs) or Societies with Restricted Liability (SRLs).

To qualify, entrepreneurs must demonstrate that they have the financial capacity to support their business venture, often requiring proof of funds transferred through the Central Bank of Barbados. The application process involves not only immigration clearance but also corporate registration with the Corporate Affairs and Intellectual Property Office (CAIPO). This permit allows the entrepreneur to legally reside in Barbados while managing their enterprise, provided they remain compliant with all local tax, labor, and business regulations throughout the duration of their stay.
