Overview

Cyprus residence permit for non-EU/EEA remote workers earning at least €3,500/month net; 1-year initial, renewable up to 3 years total. Capped at 500.

Launched in October 2021 and expanded to 500 permits in March 2022, Cyprus's Digital Nomad Visa is a residence permit for non-EU/EEA nationals working remotely for employers or clients outside Cyprus. Administered by the Migration Department, applications are filed in person in Nicosia within three months of arrival and examined in 5–7 weeks.

Applicants need a stable net monthly income of at least €3,500, work via telecommunications, and either be employed by a foreign company or self-employed serving foreign clients. The permit lasts one year and is renewable for up to two more (three years total). Spouse/civil partner and minor children get matching permits but cannot work in Cyprus. Fees: €70 permit + €70 one-off registry.

This visa is ideal for high-earning remote professionals — engineers, consultants, designers — wanting a Mediterranean base with English-friendly culture and optional Cyprus tax residency at 183 days.

PUBLISHED REQUIREMENTS

Applicant must be a non-EU/EEA national.

Must be employed by a company registered outside Cyprus or be self-employed with clients based outside Cyprus.

Must perform work remotely using telecommunications technology.

Must have a minimum net monthly income of €3,500 (after taxes and contributions).

Income requirement increases by 20% for a spouse/partner and 15% for each dependent child.

Must have valid health insurance covering the stay in Cyprus.

Must have a clean criminal record.
