The Spanish Diplomatic and Official Visa is issued to foreign government representatives, career diplomats, and staff of international organizations assigned to an official mission in Spain. Grounded in the Vienna Conventions of 1961 and 1963, it bypasses standard immigration scrutiny and is issued free of charge.

Stay duration is tied to the official mission; the visa expires when the assignment ends, with no pathway to permanent residence. Processing involves inter-authority consultations and takes one week to one month. Accompanying family members may not engage in paid work during the stay.
