Visa for transit through Schengen airport international zone without entering the territory.
The Spain Airport Transit Visa (Type A) permits nationals of specific countries to transit through the international zone of a Spanish airport without entering Schengen territory. It covers a single layover and does not allow passage through passport control or access to Spain itself.
Stay is limited to the international transit area only — typically 24 hours. The visa is not renewable and carries no PR pathway, work rights, or dependent option. The fee is EUR 90 for adults (12+) and EUR 45 for children aged 6-11; under-6s are exempt. Processing takes 15 working days minimum.
This visa is ideal for travelers from ATV-required nationalities making a connecting flight through a Spanish airport en route to a non-Schengen destination.
