It is not a visa-on-arrival in the traditional sense of walking up to an airport counter; rather, it requires a pre-arranged approval process where a host in Ghana acts as a sponsor to secure authorization from the Ghana Immigration Service before the traveler departs.

This system provides essential flexibility for international professionals and investors who may need to respond quickly to business opportunities in Ghana. By requiring a local host to vouch for the traveler and submit the necessary documentation, the government ensures that security and immigration protocols are maintained while still facilitating urgent travel.
