Join your Hong Kong resident sponsor as a spouse, child, or parent; grants work authorization and residency.
The Hong Kong Dependent Visa enables family reunification, allowing spouses and unmarried children under 18 to join a Hong Kong permanent resident or resident admitted for employment, investment, or study. Parents aged 60+ may join only if the sponsor is a Hong Kong permanent resident. The application requires proof of genuine relationship, sponsor financial capacity, and suitable accommodation.
Spouses may work independently without additional sponsorship. The visa is renewable as long as the sponsor maintains residency. Processing takes approximately 4-6 weeks, with a visa fee of HKD 230. The dependent's right to remain depends on the sponsor's Hong Kong residency status.
This visa is ideal for families of international professionals, investors, and students seeking to maintain household unity while living in Hong Kong.
The sponsor must be a Hong Kong permanent resident, or a resident who is not subject to a limit of stay, or a person admitted to Hong Kong to take up employment (as a professional, for investment, or for training) or study.
There must be reasonable proof of a genuine relationship between the applicant and the sponsor.
The sponsor must be able to support the dependent's living standard at a level well above the subsistence level.
The sponsor must provide suitable accommodation in Hong Kong.
Qualifying dependents include: spouse (including same-sex spouse if legally recognized), unmarried dependent children under 18, and parents aged 60 or above (only if the sponsor is a Hong Kong permanent resident).
