Overview

Visa for international interns and trainees. For university students completing internships and technical training programs. Requires agreement between host company and sending university.

Japan's Training visa lets foreign nationals gain practical skills within a Japanese organization through a structured internship or technical training program. It targets university students and trainees in fields unavailable at home, and requires a formal agreement between the host company and sending institution.

Stay is typically several months to one year; technical intern trainees may extend to three years. Applicants need a Certificate of qualification from Japan's Immigration Services Agency and must plan to return home afterward. The application fee is JPY 3,000. No work authorization or PR pathway is provided.

This visa is ideal for university students and trainees completing a structured, non-paid training program in Japan who intend to return home to apply the skills gained.
