The D-visa is a national entry permit for individuals who have been granted a residence permit in Norway and need to enter the country to collect their residence card. It serves as a bridge allowing permit holders to finalize their relocation without independent work rights. Issued by Norwegian embassies worldwide.

Valid for up to 6 months. Processing takes 15–45 days depending on whether the application is handled at the embassy or forwarded to UDI. Fees are generally free but may match the standard visitor visa cost. The visa does not grant independent work rights, except when granted for early employment start under the underlying residence permit.
