Tourist Visa

The Nepal Tourist Visa is the primary entry permit for foreign nationals intending to visit Nepal for leisure, sightseeing, trekking, mountaineering, or pilgrimage. It is designed to facilitate short-term stays for tourism purposes and is available to most foreign nationals, excluding Indian citizens who enjoy freedom of movement under the 1950 Treaty of Peace and Friendship. The visa is typically issued for durations of 15, 30, or 90 days and can be obtained either through Nepalese diplomatic missions abroad or via the 'Visa on Arrival' facility at Tribhuvan International Airport and designated land border crossings.

To apply, travelers must hold a passport valid for at least six months beyond their date of arrival and have at least one blank page for visa stamps. Applicants are required to complete an online visa application form and provide a recent passport-sized photograph. The visa fee is payable in USD or equivalent convertible currency. Tourists are permitted to stay in Nepal for a maximum of 150 days within a single calendar year. If travelers wish to extend their stay beyond the initial period, they may apply for an extension at the Department of Immigration, provided they remain within the annual limit.
