The ca-pa-1 is a temporary resident visa counterfoil issued to individuals who have been granted a Temporary Resident Permit (TRP). It is used to facilitate entry for individuals who are otherwise inadmissible to Canada.
The Canada Temporary Resident Permit (TRP) authorizes entry for foreign nationals who are otherwise inadmissible under IRPA. Issued on a discretionary basis, approval requires demonstrating that the need to enter outweighs the health or safety risks to Canadian society.
A single TRP is valid for up to 3 years and is renewable. Holders with a TRP valid for more than 6 months may apply for an open work permit. Each family member must apply individually. TRP holders can apply for permanent residence after accumulating time under the permit.
This visa is ideal for inadmissible foreign nationals with a compelling, documented reason to enter Canada who need a temporary authorized pathway with potential for permanent residence.
