This route is for individuals who, before the end of the Brexit transition period (31 December 2020), had requested authorization to receive a course of planned healthcare treatment in the UK under the S2 arrangement.
The S2 Healthcare Visitor visa covers UK entry for individuals who secured authorisation for planned NHS treatment under the S2 arrangement before 31 December 2020 (end of the Brexit transition period). No fee applies. Visa nationals must apply before travel; non-visa nationals are granted leave on arrival.
Permission is granted for up to 6 months per entry and can be extended in further 6-month increments — no cap on extensions, provided the S2 certificate remains valid and treatment is ongoing. Work is prohibited. In-country extensions use a paper FLR(IR) form.
This visa is ideal for EEA or Swiss residents who held pre-Brexit S2 treatment authorisation and need to travel to the UK to complete a course of planned medical care.
