D/VC/08 — Freelance Visa (Živnostenske oprávnění)

The Freelance Visa, commonly known as the "Živno" (derived from Živnostenské oprávnění), is a long-term business visa regulated primarily under Act No. 326/1999 Coll., on the Residence of Foreign Nationals in the Czech Republic. This legal framework provides the pathway for non-EU/EEA citizens to legally reside in the country for the purpose of conducting self-employed business activities. It fills the gap for independent professionals, contractors, and entrepreneurs who do not have a traditional employer-sponsored work permit but wish to establish a legal presence to perform freelance work, invoice clients, and contribute to the local economy through taxes and social security contributions.

This visa is designed for self-employed individuals, including digital nomads, consultants, IT specialists, and language tutors, who intend to operate under a Czech trade license.
