Tourism, visiting family, or short business trips. eTA for visa-exempt nationals; TRV for others.
Canada's Visitor Visa (TRV) is required for foreign nationals from visa-required countries who want to visit temporarily for tourism, family visits, or short business trips. Visa-exempt nationals travelling by air instead need an eTA (CAD 7), while TRV applicants pay a CAD 100 processing fee.
Officers typically grant up to 6 months per entry; multi-entry TRVs are issued for up to 10 years. Biometrics (fingerprints and photo) cost an additional CAD 85 and are valid for 10 years. Stay extensions are possible via a visitor record application before the authorised period ends.
This visa is ideal for travellers from visa-required countries visiting Canada temporarily for tourism, family, or business with no intent to work or study.
