The EU Blue Card (Modrá karta EU) is a specialized residence and work permit for highly qualified professionals from third countries. Unlike the standard Employee Card, the Blue Card is specifically tailored to attract high-level talent to the European Union. It requires the applicant to hold a university degree or equivalent higher professional qualification and to secure a job that meets a significantly higher salary threshold. This program is designed to facilitate the mobility of skilled workers and address labor shortages in sectors requiring specialized expertise.

This visa is intended for highly skilled individuals who have received a job offer for a position that demands advanced knowledge and professional experience. By meeting the stringent salary and educational requirements, Blue Card holders benefit from a streamlined path to residency and, in some cases, easier access to permanent residency within the EU. The card is issued for the duration of the employment contract plus three months, up to a maximum of two years, and is renewable.
