The Intra-Company Transfer (ICT) Permit in Latvia was established to facilitate the temporary movement of key personnel within multinational corporate groups. Introduced pursuant to the EU ICT Directive (2014/66/EU), this permit fills a specific gap for global companies needing to transfer essential talent between their non-EU branches and their Latvian entities. This permit is specifically for managers, specialists, and graduate trainees who are already employed by a company outside the EU and are being transferred to a Latvian branch or subsidiary. Applicants must have a minimum of six months of prior employment with the sending entity (except for trainees) and hold at least a bachelor's degree or equivalent professional qualification. Its distinctiveness lies in its recognition of corporate mobility, allowing professionals to maintain their employment relationship with the parent company while working temporarily in Latvia, with specific provisions for intra-EU mobility.
