Permit for Singapore permanent residents and some pass holders to maintain PR status while traveling abroad. Prevents automatic cancellation of PR upon departure. Can be single or multiple entry.
The Singapore Re-Entry Permit (REP) is issued by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority to let Permanent Residents travel abroad without losing PR status. A PR who leaves the country without a valid REP has their residency automatically revoked and is treated as a foreign visitor on return.
The permit is single- or multiple-entry, typically valid up to 5 years, at SGD 10 per year (or part thereof). Renewal is filed online via ICA's e-REP service within three months of expiry and usually completes within a week. Renewal is not guaranteed: ICA weighs employment, CPF contributions, and local ties.
This visa is ideal for established Singapore Permanent Residents who need to travel or work overseas while preserving their right to return and reside in Singapore.
