Visa for representatives of overseas newspapers, news agencies, broadcasting organisations, or businesses establishing first UK branch.
The UK Representative of an Overseas Business visa now applies exclusively to employees of overseas newspapers, news agencies, or broadcasting organisations posted to the UK on a long-term, full-time assignment. The Sole Representative route for general business expansion closed to new applicants in April 2022.
Permission lasts 3 years, extendable once by 2 years; indefinite leave to remain is available after 5 continuous years. No salary threshold or sponsor licence is required. Partners and children may accompany and work. Fees are £819 from abroad or £943 inside the UK, plus £1,035/year healthcare surcharge.
This visa is ideal for senior media employees of overseas news outlets who need a long-term UK posting with a clear settlement pathway.
